ron, I don't think the short reports are much good. There is too many exceptions and reports are too far apart and in the past.

Computer trading does not have to report shorts and a lot of that activity is on other platforms now and there is now 13 other trading platforms and they are doing over 40% of the trading volume on the TSX and Venture

Too many exemptions to reporting

Via IIROC:

“The “short-marking exempt” designation is required to be applied to orders for qualifying accounts of arbitrageurs, market makers and “high-frequency traders” that typically generate a high volume and speed of orders on a fully automated basis, may have orders on both sides of the market on various marketplaces at the same time, and that adopt a “directionally neutral” strategy such that generally, the position in each security in the account is flat at the end of the trading day.”

IROC qualifies neutral if 90% of the previous trading in said account is neutral. That is why most short trades are covered the same or next day.

Market makers are exempt from short reporting. With ZON I have seen strange trading activity out of RBC, probably ZON's designated market maker. Here is the list TSX provides

The biggest problem with this - it creates more supply of stock than is really there. If 30% of trades are short initiated it is really adding 30% more to the offer side or 30% more to the trading float. Sure they cover and buy it back but it creates downward pressure. Imagine the effect if instead these players bought stock first and had to sell higher.

Is it any wonder we seen the most horrific bear market in junior mining stock history since these rules came into effect in 2012, just the year after the peak in the market. What nice timing for short sellers.

I'm planning to add more, just not convinced we hit a low. cash on the side waiting.

Added a little at 16.5 cents today, will continue to add on further weakness. Further buying will get my cost basis down.

I don't think people listen to anyone on stockhouse. They use just a bit of facts to play with your mind. I like it here. At least its an honest discussion.

jdate, good point, from what I remember on Rick Rule video, price is simple because it is always there, value much harder to see but with ZON not really - a lot more value there than what the market is giving.

As for SH poster, it is just chart analysis without analysis, sounds more like a short bluffer to me!!!!!!!!! Or maybe with all those bids somebody trying to scare out some longs.

Don't be fooled by bluffs and talk, value eventually wins out and we just speculate on the timing of it!!!!

Thanks Prospector, sounds like the power line will be upgraded by the time ZON ready to build a mine. A lot of the explorers up there don't have the good infrastructure that is around Zonte's Jest
